PAGE 1 OF THE MAY 1992 ISSUE OF PASS PATROL CAMPFIRE TALES
Keep in mind, the stories here were written in 1992.  A lot has changed.
This issue was recovered by Mike Behn, AKA: Caveman

This issue includes

Hagerman Pass

Custer Cabin

ANOTHER OF THE MANY ADVENTURES OF PASS PATROL

In 1992, Campfire Tales was called Trail Scout Report. This was the first issue since the newsletter started that photos were included.  In this issue, it was on the cover only.  I included other photos for this on-line recovery to add color to it.

THEY CALL IT CUSTER’S CABIN!

“Why?”

We don’t know why.  We spent hours in the library trying to figure out why.  Nothing we found could even prove he ever lived in the county.  In fact, we wouldn’t bet a dent in the rocker panel that he ever lived in the state.

We asked one local fella how he knew it was Custer’s Cabin and he answered.  “Why shucks fire.  Everybody knows that there is Custer’s Cabin. You mean you didn’t know that?”

“We-e-e-ell.  Yeah.  I guess I knew that.”

“Well, I sure do hope so, cause I know it … and my daddy knows it … and his daddy fore him knew it too.  Fact is, I ain’t never met nobody in my en-n-tire life who didn’t know it … cept maybe you.”

The look on his face made me feel about as smart as that stump I ran over last week.  “Oh yeah … Custer’s Cabin.  Everybody knows that’s Custer’s Cabin.”
