ANOTHER OF THE MANY ADVENTURES OF PASS PATROL

In 1992, Campfire Tales was called Trail Scout Report. In this issue, photos were on the cover only.  I included other photos for this on-line recovery to add color to it.

9 WANTS TO KNOW

When Channel 9 News decided to follow Pass Patrol to the ghost town of Romley and the Mary Murphy Mine, they had no idea what they were in for.  They soon found out, this was no ordinary assignment.  The only other times their S10 Blazer had been in 4Wheel drive was to get through snow for a story.  By the time they reached the Mary Murphy Mine, they had already used 4Wheel low for the steep grade on solid surface.

The many old buildings and numerous remnants of the mining activities in Pomeroy Gulch provided more photo opportunity than they imagined.  Their cameraman, Kirk Selby, kept it runing and producer, Gram Clark, could be heard saying, “Wow!  Get a shot of that!”  Before the day was finished, they had used seventy minutes of video.

Kirk turned to Gram.  “How we gonna get all this into two minutes of air time?”

“Three minutes,” Gram answered.  “I’ll get us three minutes.”
