Mt Bross
The view from the top of Mt. Bross

I had been hearing stories from time to time about how Mt. Bross and Mt. Lincoln were no longer open.  Along about the first week of September, I decided to see if that was true or false.  It was.  True or false that is.   Depends on which one you are talking about.

I got up to about 11,000 feet or so on Mt. Lincoln and came upon a big ole steel gate with signs hanging all over it.  Now I can’t say that was a big surprise.  We’ve known all along that mountain belonged to somebody.  It was just a matter of time before that somebody claimed it.  For all practical purposes, Mt. Lincoln is closed.

Mt. Bross was open though.  I followed the road to Windy Ridge and found a big area with interpretive signs and a huge parking area.  There were no signs saying the road was closed so I followed it to the top.  What a top that is!
